It almost seems like the recalls of Chinese products were becoming so common that everyone has become desensitized to them and just sorta says “Oh, another one” instead of being concerned. Well apparently China has stepped it up a notch or 2 by including the date rape drug GHB in a popular toy. Yeah and you thought lead paint was dangerous!
U.S. safety officials have recalled about 4.2 million Chinese-made Aqua Dots bead toys that contain a chemical that has caused some children to vomit and become comatose after swallowing them.
Scientists have found the popular toy’s coating contains a chemical that, once metabolized, converts into the toxic “date rape” drug GHB, or gamma-hydroxy butyrate, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission spokesman Scott Wolfson told CNN.
“So this is nasty stuff, and it appears that the chemical is actually converting into it in the body.”
So apparently making the toys contain GHB just wasn’t cool enough for them. They disguised it so it isn’t GHB until you’ve swallowed it.. Brilliant!
Of course one option is to WATCH YOUR DAMN KIDS SO THEY DON’T SWALLOW THEIR TOYS!! I’m no parent, but if I pay money for a toy you’re gonna play with it, not eat it. If my kid is too young or stupid to tell the difference between toys and food then I won’t buy them toys that consist of tiny little beads.
When I see TV shows and movies stereotype Southerners as idiots I get a little upset, but then I read stores like these. We may have better roads than the north, but we are also certainly the leading supplier of Retards in this country.

A 16-year-old male was nabbed for breaking into the Camden City Jail. The break-in was captured on a surveillance video, said Police Chief Lucas Knight. He said the not-so-smart juvenile knocked out a window and stole 500 dollars in petty cash.
The boy was apprehended and was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Knight thinks the young suspect, who confessed to the crime, just needed cash. The boy is being held in a juvenile detention facility in Greensboro.
Example #2: Arkansas Man Nearly Throws Away 4.38-Carat Diamond

When the whole purpose of the dig was to find diamonds, wouldn’t you check for.. um.. diamonds before throwing your equipment in a locker and calling it a night? Even the 120 year old blind greeter guy at Wal-Mart could have seen a 4.38-Carat diamond.

My only question is did she copy Susan Smith or was she the 1 person who actually enjoyed the movie Freedomland?
The folks at foxnews.com must have an inside source to get this kind of insight into what the Google OS will look like on an HTC Touch!
I seriously want to know whose bright idea that was and, with that kind of “intelligence”, how long they spent doing it. Simply stunning!
UPDATE: Apparently the FTP Publishing feature of blogger is complete crap so I’ve now switched everything to Wordpress. It took a little while to install on my host and setup the way I wanted, but I’m liking it much better.
Last night I finished moving all my old blog posts to my blogger account which is the “new” blog you see now at scionguy.com. I realized I had this complex CMS setup and all I really used from it was the blog feature. So I decided to switch to blogger which has a better interface and allows me to post via email and MMS in addition to through a web browser.
So now when I take a funny picture with my phone I can immediately post it instead of having to send the picture to my email, download it at home, post it from a web browser, etc. So it really just comes down to me being lazy, but I think it makes the site look better.
Tonight I was watching the Eagles-Cowboys game and I’ve come to the conclusion that the Eagles fans are absolutely the worst fans in the NFL (or any other sport for that matter). Sure I expect fans to boo on occasion, usually at the other team or the ref after a bad call. But these crazy “fans” in Philly boo their own team anytime the play doesn’t turn out exactly how they want it. They could be successfully driving the ball down the field and have 1 bad play where they lose 1 yard and the entire stadium erupts in boo’s.
I usually don’t feel any kind of sympathy for professional athletes because, well, they’re filthy rich and really have no reason to complain if they blow all their money or do something stupid. But I really feel sorry for the Eagles players having to play in front of their “fans” in Philly. I know if I played there I’d ask to be traded after every home game. Those “fans” are truly an embarrassment to true football fans everywhere.
