Apparently our own military has looked for a link between Iraq and al Qaeda and come up with nothing. So that makes at least 2 major studies to conclude that Iraq and al Qaeda had nothing to do with each other, so we should expect an apology from the president followed by an immediate withdrawal of troops right? Yeah, right. If there’s one thing Bush does consistently it’s never admit mistakes.

Nevermind that hundreds of thousands of innocent people have died. Never mind that our soldiers are still fighting a battle they cannot win. Nevermind that the world’s view of the United States goes farther down the toilet every day. Nevermind that we have a national debt spiraling out of control. Nevermind that we are in a recession heading towards even worse times. Bush would never make himself look like a fool just on account of those reasons, but somehow he’s ok with doing it every time he opens his mouth to mutter some kind of incomprehensible phrase or new word he’s invented.

His arrogance kills and the Democrats we put in Congress to impeach him and end our country’s embarrasment have failed to get the job done. An optimist might think this report would change that, but as a realist I hardly see a chance of that. We can only wait to see what new words he’s created as part of yet another dumbfounding excuse for trying to finish his daddy’s war.

Remember those Clinton commercials asking who you want answering the red phone during a crisis? Well, is this lunatic the one that you want to handle that task? If he’ll fly off the handle about a valid question from a reporter, what would he do in an actual crisis? The consequences would be far worse than avoiding a question and making himself look like an ass like he did here.

Usually it’s Bush with the headlines that make you kinda stop and say WTF?! This time it’s Cheney’s turn apparently. According to documents released yesterday by Henry Waxman (CA-D) Cheney’s office hasn’t filed annual reports with the Information Security Oversight Office since 2003, something it’s required by LAW to do. It’s a 12 year old law signed by Clinton so it’s not like it’s something new that just got overlooked.

That’s ridiculous enough, but not surprising given all the other examples of this administration blatantly ignoring the law. What’s really absurd is the response by Cheney’s advisors:

Cheney’s advisors say his office is not covered under the order, arguing that the vice president’s office is not strictly an executive agency.

If his office is not “strictly” an executive agency, then what the hell is it? It’s not part of the court system (especially considering how this administration seems to thrive on ignoring the courts) and I haven’t seen his office pass any laws. That leaves the executive branch, and any 5th grade history student could tell you the President and Vice President are in the executive branch. I guess Cheney is NOT smarter than a 5th grader!

Of course their proposal is in line with what you’d expect from this crew:

But the vice president’s office has proposed abolishing the office. A spokeswoman for Cheney says the office is “confident” it is properly operating under the law.

If they don’t like an office or agency enforcing a law, just get rid of them. I’m curious how his office is confident that it’s operating under the law when it is so obvious that they are ignoring the law?! Chalk another one up to the Devine Dictatorship that has replaced the Democracy that we used to have in America.
